Project Management Experience
Michelle is an expert at planning and executing critical strategic projects. As a certified PMP, she has been involved with numerous large-scale and complex projects, including:
- Technical management of the first North American implementation of multimedia messaging (delivery of pictures via mobile phones), with a team that included over 80 people from around the world.
- Creation and management of several project management offices (PMOs), including one where she oversaw an enterprise project list of over 40 projects and 20 line staff members.
- Integration of a new Internet business division into an existing long distance business operation. She also supported the system post-launch, ensuring that the more than 100,000 customers who joined in the first three months had stable Internet access.
- The implementation of the first computer system managing payroll and personnel information at a manufacturing company in Malaysia.
Consulting Experience
Michelle is the principal consultant of Nanjad Project Services. In her consulting practice, Michelle personally manages strategic projects, creates and manages PMOs, and customizes and implements best-practice project and portfolio management methodologies. Michelle helps her clients realize their strategic goals, whether those be to achieve cost savings or introduce new products successfully. Michelle's clients have included companies in the manufacturing, telecommunications, transportation, retail, and not-for-profit sectors.
Coaching Experience
Michelle has had numerous opportunities to share her project management expertise with others through coaching. She has coached IT managers and staff, directors of PMOs, and project sponsors of all levels, including CIOs, CFOs, and CEOs. By sharing her skills and knowledge in both the art and the science of project management, she has been able to help others become better project managers, thereby helping their companies realize better results.
Academic Experience
In the academic world, Michelle has been a teacher, a writer, and a consulting expert. At Ryerson University, Michelle planned and delivered course content to over 350 students in the disciplines of project management, e-commerce, business process design, and introductory IT. Michelle used her IT expertise to collaborate with Dr. James Norrie of Ryerson University in creating the Canadian edition of Introduction to Business Information Systems, a textbook for first-year business and technology students. In addition to updating this text to reflect the most current IT systems and practices, she also authored the accompanying Instructor's Manual. Michelle most recently collaborated with Dr. Norrie on a second book, Project Fog: How Smart Organizations Select and Manage Their Most Strategic Projects. For this project she served as the sole PMP reviewer and project management content editor, providing expert advice on how the book fits with commonly used project and portfolio management methodologies.
